2001 Bråhult Pictures

Here are some pictures taken in August 2001 at the former site of Bråhult,
the Sabelskjöld's noble estate near Kristdala.

Birger Bring stands on the ruins of the former main house at Bråhult. Today all that remains are some foundation stones.

Another view of the remaining foundation stones of the main house at Bråhult. This appears to have been the main entrance facing the lake.

This is a view of the lake right in front of the former site of the manor house. The lake is called Bråhultesjön (Bråhult's Lake) today.

Another view of Bråhultesjön.

A small sign alerts visitors to the former site of Bråhult.

Another view looking over the house ruins toward the lake.

A chestnut tree that grows in the Bråhult estate is not native to this area of Sweden. It is assumed that the Sabelskjölds planted chestnuts here and this tree is a descendant of one of those trees.

The house that stands on Bråhult today. It is actually the third location for the home at Bråhult. The Sabelskjöld house was the first, then there was another to the west and this house to the east. This house was built about 100 years ago. Today's Bråhult is just a small part of the large estate that it once was.
